Raphael was quite the shut in before going to college in Baltimore to study entomology. Mostly either listening to music, watching movies, or playing games in his free time, he also enjoys pinning insects and displaying them. He's always had a love for the stranger side of things such as bugs and taxidermy. As a child other kids called him creepy and didn't want to be around him, leading to him being an outcast. He found comfort in a lot of horror media, especially vampire related things. Often he wished he was a vampire, thinking things would be easier if he didn't have to deal with humans. Little did he know, that wish would come true eventually.

Raphael has lived in Maryland for his whole life, coming from a lower middle class family. He has no siblings, his mother works at a call center, and his father owns his own baking business. He decided to go to Baltimore for college, to study entomology. He's never had many friends and describes his life as boring and underwhelming.
His parents always encouraged his "strange" interests, just happy that he found things to be so passionate about. When he came out to them as transgender at 13, they happily accepted him as their son, helping him socially transition and later medically transition. He's been on HRT since he was 18, and got top surgery at 20.
Raph's parents would describe him as unique, or eccentric, whereas he'd describe himself as weird or a freak. While his parents love him dearly, they wrote his issues off as teen moodiness or telling him that's how they were when they were his age too. When in truth, he actually has clinical depression and generalized anxiety disorder, among other issues.
In hopes to make friends at college, he decided to go to a party that all the freshman were invited to, which mostly just resulted in him getting drunk and not actually socializing. Unfortunately, since this party was advertised so much, people with questionable intentions came too, including some vampires who decided to feed there.
Already having poor judgment from being intoxicated, Raphael ended up being cornered by one of the vampires and turned, not remembering what his sire looks like. While he's always dreamed of being a vampire, he is currently terrified by his undead transformation, even though he felt like his life was nothing before, it feels wrong to have to just drop it all now.
Right now, he's confused and scared, already feeling lost in unlife. He wants to try and find his sire in hopes they will teach him how to be a proper vampire, he was already so bad at being human, he doesn't want to mess this up too.
