The former doctor almost took his own life when he was approached by a strange gentleman - Ján Bogdanić - who offered him a way out: a new life, a new beginning. They each consumed one of the Toreador: mind, body and soul. Not just drinking their heart blood, but devouring their minds and subsuming every speck of their bodily material. The result was outwardly successful, they each took on not only the body of their victim, but they remembered their memories, and could mimic their affectations perfectly. Spiritually they were successful as well, no taint of what they had down could be perceived through auspex.But the experiment was not without cost. Merek found that he could not remember everything that he had known before, including exactly how they had performed the experiment. Nor could he remember what he or his colleague had looked like. He also began hearing a voice, his own voice or rather the voice of Adonis - the Toreador he had consumed - a voice which talked to him, a voice that tortured him.When Merek returned to his haven, he discovered it had been burned to the ground. She dedicated time, energy, and even a bit of cash into her little collection of blogs, steadily building herself up to being a popular voice. When she went to school, she picked up skills in creative writing and investigative journalism, bringing these new abilities to raise her blogs to legitimacy.But then there was a day where she traveled alone out of suburbia. It was a beautiful, warm, green day, and there was a field of flowers she wanted to spend time in. She was a young adult at this time, just about to finish up school, and it felt like... it felt like for once, her future could be bright. But there was a point where the flowers gave way. His mother was not any better, not ready for the burden of motherhood, so Chance spent a lot of time with grandparents that weren't interested in raising another child.His father ended up getting arrested for drugs, his mother ended up on the streets, and they became sporadic, unstable presences in his life. His mother would get her shit together every now and then, make an effort, and then lose it again. When he was six, his father showed up, claiming to have changed, and took custody of Chance. Only, as it turned out, he just wanted government subsidies for having a child, and Chance was just as neglected among them. Worse, they were poor. Chance began acting up, resorting to theft to get what he wanted. He was good at it, only got caught once, and because he was young, they were lenient, and he never got caught again. When he was 9, his father died after stumbling out of a bar drunk and into the path of a drunk driver. He was sent to live with his mother and maternal grandparents again. It wasn't long before his mother found a new shitty boyfriend and left him there with his grandparents. His grandfather died of cancer when he was 13, and he suddenly found himself the caretaker of his grandmother, who had health issues of her own. Despite all this, he managed to keep up decent grades in school.He enrolled in Baltimore City Community College after high school, since the family couldn't afford much more. His grandmother's health declined severely so he dropped out of school after the first year to take care of her full time. When she passed away, he surprisingly inherited life insurance money. It wasn't much, there were some debts that had to be paid, but it was enough for him not to be completely destitute. His mother tried to convince him it should be hers, an argument that ended with her current boyfriend and him getting into a physical fight, and he hasn't spoken to her since.During his time caretaking for his grandparents, one of his few outlets was gaming and the community he found there. She was born into the Wright family in 1860, one year before the American Civil War in Appalachian Kentucky. Her father was known as “Devil John Wright,” a serial killer turned lawman. For information about John, please read “Bad John Wright: The Law of Pine Mountain.” Please know this is a slightly fictionalized version of him. The Wright Clan was a horrible place to be raised. Her father taught her terrible things: pain, intimidation and suffering. He was absent intermittently for much of her life with an abusive relationship with her mother. Though she couldn’t stand to leave him, she could not let her daughter endure this for any longer than she needed. The Civil War raged horribly and bloody, and her family moved deep into the mountains away from the armies… except John, of course, who was too hateful to stand for sentiments of equality, and would go fight for the Confederacy. This made Esther a troubled young woman. She was violent with a temper. She was sent away to school in Louisville, Kentucky after her father’s “redemption” as a civilized lawman. She would not be in town when he was hung, having never received the letter. It bothered her little. In Louisville, she learned a good, upstanding profession: accounting, if only after becoming a mistress to a widowed rich man. She helped with his finances, though he would not marry her even after she had his children. The City Gangrel of Louisville saw an unwillingness to die in her, and a penchant for violence. She was Embraced into the Camarilla, where she would learn many of their ideals. Though she had merit, Esther was too uncivil and too troubled to ever gain Status in the sect, even into her older years. She worked in the cities of Louisville, Lexington, Chicago and Cincinnati. In Chicago, she found her most success in their underground, laundering money for a strange anonymous Ventrue and doing some of his dirty work. This experience did not bring her the content she hoped it would. Instead, it festered hate in her for the sect around her. They were just like her father, the Elders. Abusive, psychopathic patriarchs in places of power. When the Sabbat attacked Louisville, where she had returned to, their spies tagged her as the first target. Esther was not easy to capture, but was easy to break once they did. She told them openly she was hardly a Camarilla advocate. The Ductus allowed her the chance for conversion, after he had gotten what he wanted out of her, which was to sell out the locations of some Camarilla in the city. Creation Rites were not anything she had been told of, but she did complete them, something she regards as the second greatest task she has ever underwent. The worst went to learning the teachings of that Lasombra, Jacob. She took to them well enough, but he was less than merciful even in a strange new place. That was twenty years ago. The dreaded convert of necessity, Esther is not at peace. She knows the Sabbat’s ideals and emulates them as she can, but more than this is the thought of power and succeeding. Loud-mouthed, proud, and quite the little explorer, her parents and four older brothers doted on her and found her outspoken ways quite charming. It wasn't until she was almost six when her madness began to show itself. Marit's eldest brother, a boy of nearly twelve years, was picking on her. He pulled her hair and called her ugly. This was nothing new. Though they were doting, the boys were still boys and, as they did with each other, they mercilessly teased her. The small child grew angrier and angrier and, instead of simply walking away or crying for her mother as she would usually do, she struck out, a small rock clenched in her fist. The feeling of her brother's nose breaking and the rush of blood was something that the child enjoyed. With this new-found excitement, Marit wanted to explore whatever it was that got her adrenaline pumping. It started with newborn chicks from the coop. She would lift them in her hands, staring down at the tiny creatures, and squeeze the life out of them. Their struggles and terrified peeps were like a drug and she couldn't get enough. Over the years, she graduated to larger and more dangerous animals before, at 15, she decided to finally try her skills on another human. The bubbly, friendly teen made her way into the village under the pretense of spending time with some friends. Two days later, the body of a young girl, no older than ten, was found beneath a tree on the edge of the village. Her body had been torn open, the organs pulled free from her body and strewn about like garbage. With no one the wiser, Marit went about her daily business, seemingly as distraught as everyone else. It was a few weeks later that her eldest brother discovered her filthy little secret. The problem? He threatened to turn her in if she didn't do as he asked. That was when the abuse began. The beatings, the rape, the endless cycle of beat, fuck, beat, fuck, beat. It was after seven years of this treatment and 16 more bodies in the surrounding villages that Marit finally got tired of it. She waited until he was finished with her one night, killed him with his own hunting knife, and then ran, disappearing into the night. The young girl made her way to a larger town and tried to blend in with the locals. This was when she took on the name "Faith". She was new so, by the end of the night, everyone had heard that there was a pretty new lady in town. The excitement of her arrival died down after a few months and she returned to her devilish pastime. In this much larger town, however, she could hide better and didn't have to travel as far. Whores in the streets, children in their beds, men in their carriages... No one was safe. Four years... That's how long she was there before she was found out. The girl was studying an organ that she couldn't name when the shadow appeared over her shoulder. Rather than fear, she felt anger. Rage boiled her blood and she attacked the intruder with all that she had, stabbing him five times before she stopped, only for him to stand there and smile at her as if she were a treasure. It was that night that Danjal gave her true life and began to foster true madness within her. She traveled with him, leaving Norway and heading south into the rest of Europe. They brought naught but death and damnation with them for nearly a century. He reveled in her dark obsession and she craved his violent touch... That is, until he dared stake her. For 97 years, Donjal moved her across the continent in a pretty white box, opening it only to watch her in torpor, frozen and beautiful and not a danger to him any longer. On one fateful night in 1852, a young fledgling, far too curious for her own good, found the pretty white box and the terrifyingly beautiful creature within. Not knowing what had happened or what the ash stake was for, the girl foolishly removed it from the seemingly lifeless body. Immediately upon waking, Faith flew into a frenzy, killing the girl and swooping into the night to satisfy the thirst that raged in her veins. Once she was able to think again, she was furious. The freshly-waked vampire began to hunt her sire with unwavering determination... And oh boy, she found him. Donjal, a vampire 150 years her senior, fell beneath anger and a nearly animalistic drive to kill the thing that had betrayed her so. She'd found him asleep just before dawn. Sure, there was a moment of waking, the fear in his eyes palpable and as delicious as with any other kill, but with her feet planted on his shoulders and her hands gripping his jaw, he didn't stand a chance. The long tears on her legs from his fighting were collateral damage and couldn't be helped. They healed soon enough and, though she was weakened by the death of her Sire, Faith continued on. She met a man named Stepan, another vampire who found her intriguing. It was with him that she found “real” love. He was not covetous, did not hold her back… He reveled in her violence as much as she celebrated his. Stepan was the first since her change to treat her as anything more than an attack dog and, with him, she found true euphoria. His death at the hands of his twin brother spelled the end of a long reign over the blonde’s madness and, instead of being angry, she was distraught. With her tail tucked between her legs, Faith left Italy, the country of her one and only love, and made her way to the “new world”. She’d sired a few poor souls, taken the lives of thousands, broken hundreds of hearts, but she has yet to find another violent enough to sate her appetite or emotionally available enough to truly appreciate the emotions that swim beneath the surface of her icy skin and see her as more than a means to an end. Her father was not in her life for long as a year after her birth he was shipped off to fight in the American-Spanish war and died a month into his deployment, leaving her mother to try to support the baby he left behind. Maxine lived a hard life of poverty in a one income home. She became rebellious at a young age and fell in with the party scenes that exploded in with the growing popularity of jazz. She had grabbed a brick from the alley and smashed it into the man's head, stunning him. That was just enough time to shrug him off and scramble. She rather enjoyed the game of pretending to be human and chose to even embrace the trends of humans. Before moving to Baltimore in the 90s, she did decide to take a little tour through Europe also. Embraced along the way, too. Max avoided the crackdown in 2012 by keeping her head down and keeping her mouth shut about the Sabbat. History History Nancy Lassiter was a sweet farm girl from Ohio who was blessed with a height and size that dwarfed her brother and little sister, and so the task of protecting them fell to her. Rural children wander far, and local county fairs draw curious eyes. Candy and animals held their amusements, sure, but something about watching the huge, muscular men tossing each other about in cheaply constructed rings ignited a fire in Nancy.Her size alone easily got her into a junior amateur league when she was legally old enough (she'd lied), and she debuted wrestling at the Butler County Corn Fair under the name Lumber Lass, complete with a corny flannel. Other names and other near empty rooms gave way to larger and larger events, but no matter hard hard she sold, how hard she trained, how hard she sacrificed, the formation of the larger wrestling alliances passed her over again and again.She began to lose herself in the violence, getting more and more hardcore until she was bleeding nearly every match. Her persona devolved from a heroic giantess into a barbaric cavewoman, an inverse of the Gorilla heel. But rough roads take their toll, and she was nearing the end of her prime. Abusing your body well into your thirties was a ticket to an early grave. Finally, during a cage match in which the walls were lined with barbed wire, she finally pushed too far and an unfelt tap meant too little too late.She was let go, black listed, and shamed, but not for very long. Unbeknownst to her, the ancient creature of the local legends was in fact a Gangrel who had seen the festival near his forest one night and watched the combat. He'd seen her ferocity and her valor, and recognized a burning soul in need of potential and opportunity. He gave it to her one lonely night in her isolated trailer, and many people believed Nancy Lassiter had gone into hiding to escape her crime.The 80's were filled with wild hunts and nights spent running in the trees, learning the ways of the night and kindred. A few terse visits to Camarilla Elysiums in the Midwest led to avoidance as a general policy.
